Recently I had to reinstall Backup & Sync to my computer because I’m leaving to another country for a while and I need to take some of my work with me.
Stuck on “One Moment Please”
Unfortunately when I logged in using my Google account I realized the program was stuck on the “One moment please” screen. A tiny animated icon was going round and round to indicate some sort of progress in the background, but in reality nothing was happening.
If you’re a patient person you may end up keeping the screen open for a whole day. Trust me, it’s not going to make a difference!
Finding the fix
I checked online for a fix but literally every website and blog I found told me to just add Google’s website to the trusted sites list in my internet settings.
You have probably already seen these steps on at least 10 different websites, but here they are once more just in case this actually helps someone:
- Open the control panel
- Go to network and control
- Go to Internet Options
- Open Security Tab
- Click Trusted sites
- Click the “site” button
- Copy & paste https://accounts.google.com to “Add this website to the zone” and click Add button
Obviously this didn’t work for me. And obviously I was frustrated because everyone is telling you that this will work.
It might not work for everyone, but if you’re one of the few who don’t use the Google Chrome browser by default it might help if you first installed Google Chrome and set is as your default browser.
Then you should log into the browser itself using your Google account and then choose to “sign in using your browser instead” from the Backup & Sync startup screen.
This fixed it for me and before I knew it I was able to backup my files and photos again.
