Strange message in Runescape: You sense something is not right, as if this could be the beginning of the end.

You sense something is not right, as if this could be the beginning of the end.Strange message in Runescape

So I was just siphoning blood runes off of a Blood Esswraith in Runescape when all of a sudden the world became sort of grey-ish and all the colors went much darker and my character seemed to fall to the ground?? I’m not sure, but it looked like I was simply lying face down on the ground for a second as if I had just fainted.

Then after a few seconds the screen started to normalize and my character stood up again. This is when I saw the strange message as shown in the screenshot.

You sense something is not right, as if this could be the beginning of the end.

I have never seen this before and it seems that even Google is not getting any relevant information about it. So what the heck was that?!

Witcher 3 The Wild Hunt crashes on cutscenes and crashing to desktop when swimming

Witcher 3 – The Wild Hunt

The long waited and delayed game has finally been launched to the public and while we were expecting to finally enjoy a smooth gameplay after all the waiting, instead, we got a game seemingly full of bugs and crashes! It seems that way too many players are experiencing all sorts of problems with the game as mentioned in this Reddit post.

Crash to Desktop

The most common issue appears to be the game crashing to desktop without any warning. For me personally the game kept crashing while I was watching one of the first cutscenes with the peasant and his killed horse. As soon as the monster attacked, the game crashed to desktop.

To fix this I simply skipped the cutscene altogether by pressing the space key.

Update of June 28, 2015 – If you have an ATI card, try optimizing game graphics settings through the updated Gaming Evolved Client. This seems to have fixed the crashing issues for me.

Crashing when surfacing from under water

I was disappointed by having to skip the cutscenes, but it was OK because I was able to watch them all on Youtube. The real problem started when the game kept crashing simply by trying to swim to the surface from under water. After a few Google searches I was able to fix my crashing issues for the time being, but I am still unsure whether or not the game will run smoothly in the future.

Solutions to Witcher 3 crashing

It seems that different computers and video cards need different settings so the best option would be to simply try everything by trial and error. It’s tedious work, but eventually you should be able to fix the game for your system. Here are a few pretty good things to try:

1. Change the display mode

Changing the display mode From Full screen to Borderless window seemed to do the trick for me.

2. Add GOG Galaxy to your firewall whitelist

Not sure if this actually helped, but it was suggested elsewhere so I tried it just in case.

3. Update your graphics drivers

I’m starting to think this was the most important step! Simply download the latest drivers for your video card. Nvidia has already updated their drivers for Witcher 3. Not sure about ATI, but it worked for me.

4. Delete the galaxy.dll file

Delete the galaxy.dll file from the game’s bin\x64\ folder. By default it should be located here: C:\GOG Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64

5. Make sure the game uses your gaming card

It might seem obvious, but I forgot to change this at first. If you happen to have two graphics cards, make sure to change witcher3.exe to use the better card by default.

The above steps helped me solve my Witcher 3 crashing problems. If you are still having issues it might be worth looking at the official GOG thread here.

How to kill the King Black Dragon in Runescape Evolution of Combat (EOC)

The King Black Dragon

The King Black Dragon (KBD) is one of the easiest bosses in Runescape, but it can still be a formidable opponent for a low level player like myself.

King black dragon from RunescapeTo successfully kill the KBD at least 2-3 times before going to the bank for supplies you will need at least level 80+ in both Defence and Magic, assuming of course you are using magic to slay this monster.

Items to bring:

  • Either anti-fire shield or dragonfire shield
  • Antifire potion or a flask
  • The best armor you can wear
  • Monkfish or better for food
  • A panic teleport tab will be useful!

Four Lost Keys is a custom Tomb Raider level made with DXtre3d

A couple of years ago I was really into creating custom Tomb Raider levels and I still have a lot of unfinished projects laying around from that time. From the ones I was able to actually finish I believe this to be the best one.

Gameplay is harsh. The level is hard and quite frustrating, which is what I was going for. I really wanted to make this a challenge even for a professional Tomb Raider fan and I think I succeeded! You can read more reviews here: http://www.trle.net/sc/reviews.php?lid=2523

Keep in mind that this game is so old it runs in MS DOS so you need DOSBox to play! You can download the game here: Four Lost Keys

*Edited in September, 2016*

  • I have included DOSBox in the package so simply open the LaunchGame.exe and the game should start automatically in a couple of seconds.

Another way to play this game is through a virtual machine running Windows XP, for example.

Fallen Earth is a free post apocalyptic online role playing game

Fallen Earth

The Free to Play Post Apocalyptic MMO

So I was just looking around the Steam store for good games to play one day when I came across this game called Fallen Earth.

At first I didn’t really think much of it because I was actually looking for games similar to Silent Hill and Alan Wake which are both horror survival games- the genre that I enjoy the most.

Fallen Earth Screenshot

For reasons unknown to me, I decided on downloading and installing the game, it was free after all! After about 10 minutes or so I was finally able to get in the game and into the action…

When the game starts you are thrown into a post apocalyptic world where Anarchy reigns and nobody is safe anywhere in the world. Not only that, but you will soon realize that you are in fact simply a clone and when you die, your bio signature is stored in a network called LifeNet that helps you regenerate your body directly from the DNA in LifeNet databases. Pretty cool, huh? Something like this has been one of my dreams in real life… so of course I was able to relate immediately!

Fallen Earth’s own description of the game

It’s 2156, and the world has been destroyed by both nuclear and bio-chemical means. Your story takes place in one of the few habitable places left in the world, the Grand Canyon. As a clone with an uncertain past, your job is survival in a world now built on destruction, betrayal and fragile factional alliances.

After a brief tutorial where they show you what is possible in the game you will be teleported somewhere in the game. I’m not entirely sure if the location is different to everyone or not, but I was able to choose where I will spawn and I found that the enemies in that area were pretty weak. So I’m not sure if I just picked a good spot or what… but it doesn’t really matter.

What’s really awesome about this game is the fact that it has an open world that’s free to roam and discover right from the start!

See the screenshot up there? You can visit every mountain top and valley that you can see in the horizon. There are a lot of items, junk metal, herbs, fruits and all sorts of other cool stuff for you to collect and you can even murder everyone in one of those small camps they have all over the world and just loot their corpses for awesome gear. A dream come true for sure, heh.

Oh and there are a lot of mutated animals running around. For example take a look at the chicken in Fallen Earth

Fallen Earth Chicken Picture
Fallen Earth Chicken

Crafting and building stuff

Yeah so in the game you can make pretty much everything you need to survive. All you have to do is find the necessary required items for any particular thing you need to create and you have to have enough intelligence and experience to actually craft it. You can gain experience by killing enemies (obviously), by looting medical cabinets, by scavenging stuff lost in the desert, digging out old graves and so on. The possibilities in this game are astronomical.

I just got myself a horse by the way. It makes traveling around the world much easier. I have seen people drive cars around but Gasoline is very expensive in this game… how the hell do they get so rich?

Conclusion

It’s just an awesome game. What more can I say?

If you need to find me in game then I am called Ynef there too… You can send me a letter through one of those in game mailboxes that are pretty neat.

Meet muchoskill, the Runescape avatar who only has one life

Cursed by the gods

Nobody knows for sure which god is responsible, but people all over the world are starting to speculate that it might have been an agreement of all the gods with the exception of Guthix (being dead and all…) , to curse certain newborn avatars in Gielinor so that they only have a single life. When you die- that’s it. Good night, sayonara etc.

Meet muchoskill

MuchoSkill from Runescape Hardcore Ironman Challenge
Muchoskill is just one of many who have been cursed in such a way. There are so many poor souls currently inhabiting the world that the supreme ruler Jagex has been forced to create separate highscore tables for these people. Every day muchoskill wakes up and the first thought that runs through his thick Rastafarian head is “will I survive this day or will I die and be forgotten?

Every day he sees more and more strangers who share his fate get killed in the most horrific ways one can imagine and if you think THAT should be enough to break the average man, an eerie voice on top of it all will always break the silence and announce the death of another one.

The only thing left for muchoskill is to continue his progress towards enlightenment by gaining experience in the many skills and activities this world has to offer in the hopes to perhaps one day see the mind of God using all of his knowledge and to rival the Gods themselves by claiming immortality and maybe, just maybe even becoming a God himself.

The king of all zombie games is undoubtedly No More Room In Hell

No More Room In Hell

No More Room In Hell or simply NMRIH is an awesome zombie game where you and up to eight other players per server can experience first hand the horrors of a true zombie apocalypse. Do you have what it takes to survive and escape the nightmare of the walking dead?

Horde of zombies attacking the player in no more room in hell game ynef.net

Best of multiplayer zombie games

There’s really a big empty hole in the gaming industry when it comes to zombie games in general. Especially the ones with multiplayer capabilities. Don’t get me wrong, the Resident Evil series is a legend, but I think they kind of ruined the whole feel for the game after they dropped the adventure part of the game and turned it into a mindless first person shooter.

I don’t normally enjoy FPS games and No More Room In Hell does fall into that category, but because it has zombies and an awesome real life feel to it, not to mention the great teamwork possibilities that you would find in a realistic zombie apocalypse situation, it all adds up to a wonderful game.

Zombie getting shot by a shotgun in no more room in hell zombie game ynef.net

Game modes

When the game starts you find yourself surrounded by up to eight other people per server. The goal is different in each server and it varies by the type of server you have joined. For example there are survival type servers and wave type servers.

In a survival type server there is a mission that needs to be completed and whoever survives through the whole thing will be rescued in the end. There is a possibility to get left behind if you’re not fast enough!

In a wave type server a horde of zombies called a “wave” starts attacking the area you are located in and your goal is to stop them from taking over your position. The waves get harder every time and ammunition is usually very limited so one must prioritize which type of weapons to use first and which ones to save for later.

It’s all about teamwork

It is possible to beat the survival type game without any help, but it is going to be extremely difficult. Most of the time, even with eight players who have decent skills, all die before they are able to escape or complete the mission.

What makes this game difficult to beat is the fact that there are literally an endless horde of zombies attacking the players at all times. Even though most of them are quite slow, they can easily surround you if you don’t plan your route carefully enough. This is where teamwork comes into play. It’s pretty much vital to have a few friends who keep the zombies away from you while you are trying to weld open a gate in order to escape for example. You just can’t do it alone!

Getting bitten even once could mean that you will die should you get infected. It doesn’t happen all the time when a zombie just scratches you, but odds are not in your favor. Fortunately there is a cure in the game… but of course it’s very rare and you probably won’t find it. So the best advice I can give you is don’t let them get too close.

In case you are infected other players might choose to shoot you on sight to prevent you from attacking them later on when you die and turn into one of the walking corpses yourself.

Zombie attacking the player in no more room in hell game zombie ynef.net

Zombie game like no other

It’s realistic. A bite or two and you are dead. An explosion too close to you and you are blinded for a few seconds with a ringing in your ears. Other people can shoot you just because… and the list goes on. If you’re brave enough to try and survive then you’re welcome to do it with me! Simply add me as a friend on Steam and let me know when you want to go for a little zombie killing rampage 😉

Runescape is the worlds most popular browser based MMORPG

What is Runescape?

Runescape is a browser based MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). It’s so popular that even the Guinness World Records recognizes it as the biggest, most updated and free MMORPG in the world. Unlike traditional games there is no need to download and install it in order to play. All you need is an internet connection, a modern web browser and a free account (your Runescape avatar).

Runescape is most popular mmorpgThe virtual journey of a lifetime

When you first enter the world of Runescape you have to go through a tutorial like in most games. It explains a lot how the game works and what your role in the game will be.

All the action takes place in a fictional medieval fantasy realm called Gielinor which is divided into different kingdoms, cities and regions. There is no main storyline for the game, instead every member can set their own personal goals and roam Gielinor freely. Of course there are certain areas that are only accessible after completing a quest.

The map is very huge with a lot of beautiful places ready to explore from the start. You can visit small towns and go shopping or spend your afternoon drinking beer at a local tavern. Or perhaps you prefer to spy on unicorns?

Mysteries to uncover

You would think that once a game has been created then everything is set in place for good, but in Runescape there are many mysteries left unsolved and new ones are piling up all the time. Not even the makers of the game know exactly what will be discovered a year from now!

Fortunately for us the Varrock museum with their savvy archeologist are constantly working on the important stuff like uncovering more and more about the ancient race called the Dragonkin. So far we know that they were an intelligent race that existed in the previous cycle of the Universe and a few have survived the big reset by hiding in the Abyss. What could they be plotting now?

The digsite in Varrock

The fate of Gielinor lies in your hands

The Runescape staff has just recently implemented a system that lets members vote on how the game should continue. For example when a new quest is in the making, a game-wide poll will be available for every member where they can give their individual vote on what they want to happen. This makes Runescape a game where all the major events are literally influenced by the players themselves.

The Sixth Age

The Sixth Age (present day) started when a god named Guthix was killed. The death of Guthix had a great impact on Gielinor because the Edicts of Guthix were no longer in effect. The Edicts of Guthix banished all the gods from Gielinor in order to protect it from any further destruction. Because of that we have already been visited by four different gods who want the power of Guthix that is now spread across the world. There are many battles ahead but one thing is certain- we cannot allow anyone to have such infinite power. The only thing we can do is pick a side when the gods come and hope for the best… or not pick a side at all and hope they simply destroy each other without doing irreversible damage to Gielinor.

Flipping items on the Grand Exchange – A short how to tutorial

Flipping items is not rocket science

Despite what a lot of players think, flipping items is actually pretty simple and straightforward. The idea is to generate a profit by buying items below the average market price and after a while selling these items above the average market price (the buy low, sell high principle that works with any business).

Best items for flipping in the Grand Exchange

Runescape character thinking about flipping items on the Grand ExchangeBefore getting started you should understand that you can’t flip everything. Certain items are simply losing their value all the time, thus making them literally a black hole for your gold coins.

Then there are items that simply won’t sell only at certain times. The Santa Hat, for example, doesn’t sell in the middle of July etc.

Finding profitable items for flipping in GE

The easiest way to find a profitable item is to look for items that are in great demand such as things that are directly linked to skilling. For example herbs, seeds, ores, etc. are all required and in great demand because players are always trying to level up their skills using these items.

After you have chosen your item, it’s time to take a look at the price graph to make sure your items overall price trend is upwards, not downwards. You don’t want to end up with stuff that are clearly losing their value. To do that we simply enter our item name + grand exchange into Google search, for example “iron bar grand exchange”.

Iron bar showing uptrend in the price graphNow that the graph is displayed we can clearly see that the Iron Bar has an overall upward trend. You have to look at the entire graph, not just the last (right side) tip of the graph to understand where the trend is going.

If you don’t understand graphs that well there are plenty of tutorials and guides available online about how to properly analyze graphs and how to spot trends in the price movement. It’s really interesting stuff so I recommend looking into it! 😉

Buying and Selling on the Grand Exchange

After analyzing the market we have finally chosen which item to flip – for this guide, it’s the Iron Bar used mainly in the Smithing skill to make weapons, armor, arrow tips and nails.

The first thing we do is called a test buy. We simply buy one of the Iron Bars and put in a higher price than the average market price to make sure our item buys instantly. This is how we know exactly what the current price of our item is.

Test buy iron bar in the grand exchange for later flipping

As you can see on the picture to the left we entered 567 gp as the price we wanted to buy, but the item actually bought for 566 gp giving us back the change of 1 gp.

We now know that 566 gp is the actual price that Iron Bars are going for in the Grand Exchange at this moment.

Remember the price graph? The trend is clearly upwards so we are pretty confident that we can sell the Iron Bar back to the market for a higher price than 566 gp.

Picking the right price for selling

After raising the iron bar price in the grand exchange for 5 percent

The trick is to put the item up for sale and increase its price by five percent. To do that simply click on the +5% button and Grand Exchange will automatically adjust your selling price.

But that’s not the price we want to sell because a lot of other people are probably doing the same.

We need to target the “Desperate buyer” who rushes to GE and makes a buy order immediately with +5% without worrying much about market prices. These type of players just want to receive the item as fast as possible so they can go skilling and advance their levels.

In order to sell to these players the price must be adjusted in a way that it’s still above the overall market price, but below the +5% price. When we adjust our selling price in this way, we make sure the desperate buyer will buy from us first. Makes sense?

Iron Bar sold for 577 gp in the grand exchange of Runescape

Instead of trying to sell for 595 gp (the +5%) we are lowering the price to 577 gp aiming for a quick 11 gp profit per Iron Bar.

As you can see just a few moments later someone had bought our Iron Bar for 577 gp! I am sure if we waited long enough, we could sell it for 595+ as well, because the general price for Iron Bar is currently climbing. For now let’s settle with just 11 gp profit per Iron Bar.

Now we just have to repeat this process and buy 5000 Iron Bars giving us a good 55,000 profit flipping the Iron Bar.

Valuable items = More profits!

The Iron Bar in our example isn’t a valuable item and because of this the profits are smaller too. If you want to make more money flipping items on the Grand Exchange you just have to buy and sell things that cost more. The price difference is bigger there and so are your profits.

NB! I advise you to invest only 10-20% of your entire capital into flipping. This way you can safely trade without losing your entire cash pile should the trend change and prices fall.

Why you shouldn’t underestimate the Farming skill in Runescape

Farming skill in Runescape

The skill “Farming” requires a pay-to-play account and it’s an amazing skill that lets you plant herbs, bushes, trees and flowers that can be harvested and most of the harvested items can then later be used in various other skills. For example the Herblore skill uses herbs that are grown with the Farming skill and these are used to make potions that boost your stats or give you other advantages in the game.

Don’t underestimate the Farming skill

You hear it a lot from other players that the skill is tedious and time consuming and really not worth the trouble. The experience seems to come slowly and you can only plant a tree once every day per patch, because it takes 12 hours or so to fully grow and be ready for harvest (that’s when the experience will come).

Placing supercompost on a herb patch

The small stuff like applying supercompost or planting a seed give very small amounts of experience indeed, but the main XP will come AFTER you have planted and grown a plant to its full size. It’s especially true with trees like the Magic Tree that gives a whooping 13,768+ XP after you check it for health (that’s without any experience boosts).

If you are just starting out, I advise you to complete the quest Fairy Tale I – Growing Pains. After finishing this quest your farming level is raised instantly from 1 to 17. For more farming experience simply keep growing the best that you can afford. Remember, trees give the most experience.

Serious farming and money making

After you get 85 farming things will really start to get profitable because you can now grow Torstol, the herb that is used to make Zamorak Brews- a wildly sought after potion that raises Attack and Strength levels temporarily.

You can get Torstol seed from the Grand Exchange for a measly 17,000+ coins. The yield is around 8-10 herbs per seed and they sell for over 5,000+ coins each, making your pure profit anywhere between 23,000 to 33,000 per seed!

Below are the results of my latest herb run:

4 seeds = 70,844 coins

37 herbs = 200,799 coins

Making the total profit from this run 129,955 coins.

Remember, you can do this 4 times per hour! (because seeds take around 15 minutes or so to grow).

That’s 519,820+ coins per hour!

This is just the result of an average herb run, I’ve picked 51 herbs too which add up to 848,824+ coins per hour!

Grand Exchange Bought 4 Torstol SeedsGrand Exchange Grimy Torstol Sold for 200k

As of October 2014 Farming is probably the most profitable skill right now.
